For years we have traveled to Galveston and rented a beach house on the west end of the island for our annual coastal getaway. Having grown up near the beach south of Houston, it's something I truly look forward to each year.
In 2010 we discovered the amazing Galvestonian condos on the east side right at the end of the seawall. Once again this year we rented another condo for the week and enjoyed days of private beach fun, a large pool and the closeness of being right near the city.
We topped of the trip with visits to Kemah, putt-putt, Moody Gardens, the Children's Museum, a ferry ride, the Strand, and meals at Marios, The Spot and the Original Mexican Cafe. Throw in some original Shipley's donuts and it was one fun week!
The kids just had a blast. We saw dolphins on the ferry ride, bought some hermit crabs, and they loved playing the Wii at night too!
I didn't even check my email all week -which is a first!
Seven days of bliss. Can't wait until we get to go back to our secret place again!
