World Series Was Amazing!
Our trip to Houston was incredible - fast and furious. We arrived at Minute Maid Field at about 4:30 and the place was already a buzz with the Stros down 3 games to none. "We Bee-lieve" signs were everywhere in honor of the killer bees. I knew in my heart this was likely to be a tough night, but to be at the Series and to see Bagwell and Biggio one more time, it was worth it all. We sat next to some real nice White Sox fans who flew all the way to Houston to see their team win. One was a 2nd generation fan...him and his dad had waited all this time.
They lost Game 4, 1-0 and were literally inches away from tying it in the bottom of the ninth! Every game was just like that. Many records and interesting things took place during this Stros playoff run and the Series. Such as:
1. They played the longest MLB playoff game in history to beat the Braves in the Division Series.
2. They dealt with what some call "the biggest homer ever" when Albert Pujols blasted one off Brad Ledge just one out and one strike away from going to series by winning the next game in St. Louis in convincing fashion.
3. Julie and I met Brad's parents in line at a concession stand and talked to them for awhile. They were some nice people.
4. Game 3 of the Series was the longest World Series game ever ending at 1:30am CST, with the Stros losing a backbreaker 7-5.
5. Games 3 and 4 ended on the same day!
6. Game 4 went longer than any other final World Series Game without a run being scored until the 8th inning.
7. The Series probably featured the last games of Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell - too future Hall of Famers.
8. The Series was filled with drama unlike others complete with bad calls, incredible defense, amazing pitching and last minute heroics, most by the White Sox.
9. This was the first World Series for the Astros and the first time the Sox had been since 1959.
10. The Astros won the NLCS and their first World Series birth after playing 7128 baseball games.
11. The 2005 Astros were the first team to start 15 games under .500 to win the NLCS since the 1914 Boston Braves.

ASTROS GO TO THE SERIES!
Finally, after waiting over 32 years, my childhood baseball team has done it! They are going to their first World Series vs. the Chicago White Sox! Wow! I've been watching the Astros since 1974. I am 36 now, but the wait was worth it all...
We have tickets for Game 4 in Houston. I can't wait.
Go Stros!

Hurricane Rita Menaces My Hometown!
Hurricane Rita was category 5 just a few days ago.
It was called the 3rd strongest hurricane ever recorded. Thank God it died down to a category 3 and missed the Galveston/Houston area late last night by about 100 miles.
I grew up just south of Houston and went through Hurricane Alicia in 1983, the last major hurricane to directly hit Houston/Galveston. It was crazy and scary. We still have friends with businesses and homes in that area and thankfully, they were all sparred any major destruction.
It has been a crazy hurricane season....and it's not over yet.

Pray for The Gulf Coast
I've been through a hurricane before. It's not any fun. I've been through two floods. Those aren't fun either. But, I cannot even imagine just what our fellow American's in LA, MS and AL are experiencing as a result of the largest hurricane to ever hit the US, Katrina.
Please do something to help in the reflief efforts. Do more than pray. Give, serve and support.
They needs us now more than ever.

Brady to Lead Young Singles Again
Well, it's true. Crossroads has asked me to help lead the young singles group age 25-35 or so. Basically, the church has very little to offer in the form of singles ministry, so it's gonna require some serious grassroots efforts on my part, but I am excited and Julie is too. After all, if not for the singles group we were in at the time we wouldn't have met nor have some of the friends we do today.

More Than Meets the Eye
I am writing my first book and hope you will be a part of it! Check out my new blog www.nobonesaboutit.blogspot.com for more information. It's gritty, funny, to the point and bold, but I hope God can use it to rattle some cages and straighten me and anyone else out that needs it!
Please give me feeback as we go along. When I get to 100 devotionals/stories I am going to have "No Bones About It - Vol1 " published.

Celebrate America 2005!
We need to unite and stand up for America this weekend.
Together we celebrate those who have given us our American freedoms in the past and protect them today. For those serving, we love and are praying for you. Everyone has their share of those in guard of America and we thank you.
As Sean Hannity plays all the time, "Let Freedom Ring!"
God Bless America!

And I Thought Houston Was Humid...
Ok, I just got back from Central Florida last night. Was there for 3 days meeting with a million people our company does business with. Ok, not a million, but I was busy. Stayed in Jacksonville but I drove down and spent Wendesday in Orlando.
All I have to say is it was freaking humid. 95 degrees and 85% humidity! I felt like I ran back down to Houston....It was so bad it would literally take your breath away. Even the locals were freaking out. I heard it has been years since it has been this bad. It was so bad that when I stepped out of the car, my sunglasses would fog up! Now that's humid.
Anyway, I'm back home and all is well.
Julie is hitting "the crunch" time with the girls. She's at nearly 26 weeks. I'm getting more excited by the hour. I've bought more things for these two princesses than most and we still have 2 months to go! I did go down to Disney to buy Julie a charm however. It was neat to go back to our honeymoon spot and get her a nice keepsake! There's just nothing like Disney...

Crossroads Family Night at the Ballpark
I still call it the Ballpark in Arlington. Last night we called it the Crossroads Christian Church Ballpark in Arlington as about 1200 of us took over HomeRun Porch!
We were decked out in blue and the Rangers proceeded to deck out the Atlanta Braves, 7-3. It was as blast...Mom and dad joined us too!

Aunt Joyce turns 80! Niece Kelsey turns 7!
My wonderful niece, Kelsey, turned 7 years old Saturday night. Hard to believe she is that old. We celebrated at the Magic Time Machine in Addison. It was a blast!
My grandfather's sister, Joyce, turned 80 over the weekend so I took off to go see the Shanklin family at their ranch outside of Graham, Texas on Sunday. (Julie was at home resting from a busy day at Canton on Saturday....she wore herself out).
Anyway, it was fun. Lots of newborns and youngins. All of my cousins are well. Don't get to see that side of the family as often. Bill Shanklin, my great uncle that reminds me of the old rancher from "City Slickers" is doing great and recovering well from cancer treatments.
I'll post pics later....

Julie Ends Teaching Career....For Now
Well, Julie finished her teaching career last week...at least for the foreseeable future. She wanted to teach for 5 years and that's exactly what she did. She had to say "bye" to the professional world of being a 2nd grade teacher at the school behind our home and fall into the ranks of being a professional mom and housewife. Congrats hun! No one will work harder than you....
Here's a pic from her final days.

Third Watch is Gone
We don't watch much TV. But, since Julie and I met we have been watching this incredible show called "Third Watch". For some reason NBC pulled it this year. Seems it just couldn't compete with the "ER's" and "Law & Order's" of the TV world.
We watched the final episode. It was a sad night. For years we've looked forward to this show each and every week. It was our thing. It's a great real show based on real life portrayals of firemen, EMTs, and the police.
It makes me sad.....bye Bosco, Faith, Doc, Scully, Davidson and the others. Oh Crap....

Brady's Bunch Introduction
Well, I am totally new to this blogging thing....but I figured at 35 I better learn how to do it. I've got a lot a life ahead of me and things are changing so I better get with the times or be left behind, right?
I have to say "thanks" to my long time (since 2nd grade) buddy from Houston - Johnny Thompson - for this idea. His blog spurred me to do my own. Check his out:

Let's just see how good I do....
